The bond that connects spirit animals with humans has been recognized for centuries. When we find ourselves connected to a spirit animal, it is believed that we do not choose our own spirit animal; the spirit animal chooses us. By creating a bond with our spirit animals, they can offer healing or “medicine” in the form of guidance, protection, power, or wisdom. We are not limited to one spirit animal in a lifetime; we can have multiple spirit animals come in and out of our lives and each provide us with unique knowledge.
How to connect to your spirit animal ?
One of the best ways to connect with your animal companion is through regular meditation. Sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and take some deep breaths. Visualize your animal friend in as much detail as possible. It’s important to focus on your breathing, since animals can sense when we are stressed or anxious, and this can interfere with the connection between you.
In your mind’s eye, offer a gesture of welcome and invitation. The image you’ve created will help to open up communication channels between you and provide a deeper understanding of each other.
From a young age, I have been intrigued by the wisdom and mystery of Native American culture and ceremonies. The idea of creating four paintings of spirit animals is a way for me to connect with this part of my heritage in past lives.
Spirit Animal WOLF
The wolf is a spiritual guide and an ancient teacher. In Native American tradition, animal medicine is often used during healing ceremonies. The wolf provides guidance when you need empowerment and strength. The wolf can take you on a guided journey through the natural rhythms of your life where you can experience rebirth, renewal and joy. It can be a mentor that helps to restore balance within yourself and your environment; it can teach you how to trust in your own instincts as well as within yourself as a whole person.
Positive symbolism of the wolf spirit animal:
- Sharp intelligence, deep connection with instincts
- Appetite for freedom
- Courage and resilience
- Inner wisdom
- Community and connection
Negative symbolism of the wolf spirit animal:
- Greed and selfishness
- Dishonesty or deception
- Feeling threatened
- Lack of trust in someone or in yourself
- Control (source: Spirit Animal)

Spirit Animal EAGLE
Eagle, as your spirit animal, is a symbol of change. The winds of change are heading your way and eagle is here to help prepare you. inner strength and fortitude will see you through whatever changes come your way.
Eagles are known for their majestic flying abilities and their powerful hunting skills. Their spirit animal is one of strength, courage, and determination. Those with the eagle totem animal are said to be able to achieve great heights of success. They are natural leaders with a propensity for taking risks. They are also down-to-earth, keeping one foot on the ground even as they soar to new heights.
Eagles have feet with four toes. Four is a symbol for having a solid foundation and being grounded. Those who are guided by the Eagle spirit animal are grounded. Even though the Eagle can soar to great heights, they are still strongly connected to the earth. Among being grounded and connected to the earth, those guided by the Eagle are also resilient and in complete harmony with the spiritual aspects of their lives. Unafraid of the unknown, these seekers accept life’s challenges with unshakable courage, determination and confidence. (source: Spirit Animal)

Spirit Animal ELEPHANT
Different cultures have different animal symbolism. In Asia, the elephant is a powerful symbol. They are seen as good luck, a bringer of prosperity, and a force for good against evil. Elephants are also seen as symbols of strength, power, wisdom, memory, and vitality.
African shamans believed that elephants symbolized victory and triumph. The elephant was seen as a powerful creature that could help lead the way to success.
Generally, the elephant represents:
- Maternal instinct, motherliness
- Stability in our lives
- Physical strength and invulnerability
- Endurance and a desire to live a long life
- A reminder that life is like a circus (sometimes crazy, but full of wonder)
- Mother Earth (source: Spirit Animal)
Elephants are iconic creatures, and they are notorious for having many different meanings. However generally the elephant symbolizes power and invincibility. This divine animal is also symbolic of wisdom and longevity. Many people will see elephants as more than just a cute creature – they will see them as a symbol of protection and strength and an ally that will guide them through the difficult times of their lives.
